Founder & Principal
PROFESSOR SONG KE, PHD FRSM, MBACC, FATCM
Professor Song Ke, founder and principal of Asanté Academy of Chinese Medicine, has practiced and taught Traditional Chinese Medicine worldwide for over 40 years. He started to learn his skills very early, when he was a 13 year-old-boy apprenticed to three herbal masters in his home province of Hubei, China. He was medically qualified in both Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in Canton University of TCM in 1982.
His clinical success as a leading consultant of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the UK since 1986 has been featured in the Observer, Daily Mail, FT and on BBC, CNN, ITV, Channel 4 and many other broadcasting media throughout the world. He is twice listed in London Evening Standards’Top 50 Health Practitioners and London’s 100 Best Alternative Experts, respectively. He is ‘simply brilliant’ (quoted from London Evening Standard 8th May 2001).
In February 2023, his new book, The Reasoning of Traditional Chinese Medicine, published by World Scientific Press, was officially launched at a ceremony held at Asante Academy.
PROFESSIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
Professor Song Ke has been successfully promoting and providing Acupuncture service in NHS hospitals such as the Royal Free, Whittington and North Middlesex Hospitals, working as Acupuncture Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital. He has also been involved in research programmes in TCM with various London Hospitals and was instrumental in setting up the BSc (Hons) and MSc courses in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Middlesex University.
Professor Ke was one of the major founders of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, ATCM, and the general secretary of the organization. He was also the president of the British Society of Chinese Medicine. He is vice president of Pan European Federation of TCM Societies. He is actively involved with the UK Department of Health in the process of Statutory Regulation of Professional Practice, and he was a member of its Regulating Working Group.
He is well known for the treatment of skin disorders, allergies, diabetes, gynaecological conditions, infertility, epilepsy, emotional disorders and many others. He practices at Asanté Academy and a number of other clinics in London. He also travels internationally to treat patients. Above all, he is a very kind man, willing to help and give honest advice to people.

In 1978 Ms Dan Jiang completed eight years of full time training at the Beijing University of TCM and graduated with a Masters degree. After a further ten years of experience as a senior doctor at the attached teaching hospital, she decided to move to the UK. Here she has been a well known teacher and practitioner for many years. She is a fellow of both the ATCM and the British Acupuncture Council (BAaC).
Ms Dan Jiang has published several academic and research papers and books, notably on neurological conditions and viral infectious diseases. Other areas of her special experience and skill include internal medicine and the treatment of many conditions that affect women and children. Ms Jiang continues to participate in teaching additionally conducting research in the UK and Europe.

MR HANG LI MATCM
Mr Hang Li qualified in Chinese Medicine at Guangzhou University of TCM in 1976. He has developed a wide following of patients in the UK.
He has many areas of special interest within Chinese Medicine. These include the treatment of stress-related neurological conditions and health problems associated with the ageing process.

Mr Christopher Ross graduated with honours from Middlesex University in 2007, having completed the 5 year BSc TCM program. As part of his training, Mr Ross spent 6 months studying and practicing in Beijing. Since his graduation, Mr Ross has practiced TCM from his private clinic in North London. He also sees patients at the Ashdown Integrated Healthcare Clinic in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.
Mr Christopher Ross gained his advanced diploma in Chinese Tuina Massage in 2010, awarded by the Asanté Academy of Chinese Medicine. Additionally, he has also completed several advanced Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine CPD seminars. Teaching was provided by Andrew Nugent-Head from the Association of Traditional Studies. Mr Ross also has a keen interest in Qi Gong meditation and Reiki.
His areas of interest in Chinese Medicine include pain management and the treatment of mental-emotional conditions such as anxiety, stress, insomnia and depression. Christopher, does however, have experience treating a variety of different health conditions. Mr Ross sees patients at both the Asanté clinic and the Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge. He provides both Acupuncture and Tuina Massage treatments for hotel guests and Spa clients.
In addition to his clinic practice, Christopher holds the position of Administrative Manager at Asanté.

MR YUNQIN SONG – MSC TCM, MATCM, MWFCMS
Mr Yunqin Song graduated from Shanxi University of TCM in 1996 and had been working as a medical Doctor, herbalist, acupuncturist and lecturer in university teaching hospital in Shanxi for 10 years.
In 2004, Mr Song graduated from Hubei University of TCM. He gained a Masters Degree in Intergrated Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine.
Mr Song moved to the UK as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner in 2007.
Based on solid knowledge and experience, Mr Yunqin Song’s expertise lies in musculoskeletal conditions, such as back pain, headache, sciatica, arthritis and joint pain. Moreover, he is good at treating skin problems, depression, anxiety, stress and infertility.
Mr Song has been a Chen style Tai Chi Training instructor for 20 years.
His particular specialist areas focus on:
- Relieve various pain conditions via Tuina and acupuncture through accurate anatomical localization.
- Designing individual exercise plans for patients with musculoskeletal pain.

Dr Jun She graduated from Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine and got his PhD degree in 2007. He came to the UK in 2008 to promote Chinese Medicine and Chinese Culture with multiple roles, such as Acupuncture and Tuina (Chinese Massage) lecturer, Acupuncturist, Tai Chi instructor in Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine based in London South Bank University. He was also a part-time herbalist in another TCM clinic.
Dr Jun She is a member of the ATCM and joined the Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine in 2018. He brings his wealth of knowledge and experience of Acupuncture, Acupressure and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Based on his knowledge and academic background, his main areas of interest are neurological conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, MS, depression, Anxiety; Pain management, Fertility support, Women’s health care with Chinese medicine methods.
He is also a Tai Chi instructor and teaches traditional Chinese exercises.

DR YAN XIANG SONG BSC TCM
Dr Yan Xiang Song is a Master of Tuina massage having spent over 30 years specialising in this evermore popular Chinese massage treatment. Dr Yan began his studies in 1977 at the prestigious Hubei TCM University and Hospital. He graduated in 1982, specialising in Tuina and went onto work at the University and Hospital for over twenty years.
In 2003, Dr Yan Xiang Song moved to the UK and began practising his massage skills in London. During this time he has worked for Dr Herbs and Dr China. In 2005 Dr Yan began teaching on our Tuina massage course and the response from the students was extremely positive. Dr Yan continues to teach on our course and has also taken on private students for advanced massage training.
Dr Yan has recently joined the Asante team as a Tuina Massage practitioner. His in-depth massage skills are excellent for a whole range of conditions including musculo-skeletal, back and spinal problems and chronic internal condtions such as ME, digestive problems, arthritis, high blood pressure, insomnia etc.

DR. FAN YI, MSC TCM MATCM
Dr Fan Yi graduated from Middlesex University with a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is responsible for running the NHS North Middlesex Pain Clinic, additionally, he practices at the main Asante clinic.
Dr Fan Yi is qualified to provide acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine treatments.

MRS MARGARETH ROSS – BSC (HONS) TCM BUCM, MACS
Mrs Margareth Ross graduated with honours from Middlesex University in 2008 having completed the 5 year BSc program. As part of her studies, she spent 6 months studying and practicing in Beijing. Since graduation she has been working as a TCM practitioner from her private practice in North London.
Since graduating, Margareth has gone on to complete further studies in facial rejuvenation acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. She was fortunate enough to study with Viginia Doran, a leading practitioner in this field.
As part of her continued training, Margareth has also completed a number of advanced Acupuncture and Chinese medicine seminars. Teaching was provided by Andrew Nugent-Head of the Association of Traditional Studies (ATS).
Margareth has a keen interest in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Her areas of interest include treating women’s problems and infertility, however, she is also skilled at treating many other conditions. In addition to TCM, Margareth has a keen interest in Qi Gong, Kundalini Yoga and Reiki.
As part of her role within Asanté, Margareth sees patients at the NHS Whittington Hospital. She regularly treats patients using the Maternity Acupuncture service at the Day Labour Ward and the Pain Management Clinic.

MR KIERAN HOWSE – BSC (HONS) TCM , MB (BEIJING), MATCM
Mr Kieran Howse graduated with honours from Middlesex University in 2007, having completed the 5 year BSc TCM program. As part of his training, Kieran successfully completed a 6 month clinical placement in Beijing, run by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Kierans’ clinical training was undertaken at Asante Academy in the UK and at Xiyuan Hospital in Beijing. Upon graduating, he was awarded the Jencons Prize for Complementary Health Science.
Kieran Howse has over 12 years of clinical experience in the fields of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine. For the past 4 years, Kieran has also been working with Dr. Zhai, at the Zhai Clinic on Harley Street which specialies in fertility treatment.
With a broad knowledge of Chinese Medicine, Kieran is a confident and hardworking practitioner. He is also a part of the Asante Academy teaching staff, providing teaching on our 24-day acupuncture and herbal medicine courses.

DR ANNA KONOVALOVA, PGDIP NEUROLOGY, MACS
Dr Anna Konovalova is a fully licensed Traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, passionate about her job, which has become a way of life.
She started her education in Russia, at the First Moscow State Medical University. She was awarded her first medical degree and has been certified as a neurologist. During her work as a doctor, she noticed that patients who chose acupuncture as an additional method for rehabilitation recovered faster.
To treat her patients with greater success, she took a course, and obtained a diploma in acupuncture. She continued working as a neurologist and acupuncture practitioner in the hospital.
Anna moved to London and became a member of the Acupuncture Society. Since then, she has been helping people with effective treatments against various diseases.
Dr Anna Konovalova follows a holistic approach and treats not a specific disease, but the person as a whole. Anna’s main areas of interest include treating neurological problems with TCM. Lately she has expanded her interests to the field of treating infertility with acupuncture. She is also passionate about diminishing the signs of aging and also practices facial rejuvenation acupuncture. She also uses acupuncture to assist people with healthy weight loss.

Ms Rose Zhang is the Manager of Asante Academy. She has been with Asante since 2006.
She has a strong administrative and marketing background. Ms Rose Zhang graduated in Education (MA) and Linguistics (MA) from Brunel and Surrey Universities.

DR. KAICUN ZHAO – MSC HERBAL MEDICINE, PhD
Dr. Kaicun Zhao was the programme leader of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese herbal medicine programmes at Middlesex University. He is also supervising Master and PhD students at the University.
He boasts more than 30 years experience in clinical practice, research, and education of Chinese medicine including acupuncture and herbal medicine. He is particularly specialised in herbal medicine treatment of various internal diseases and gynaecological conditions.
Dr. Zhao also serves as a member of the Expert Advisory Groups on herbal medicines for British Pharmacopeia Commission and is a member of the Herbal Medicine Advisory Committee of MHRA.
In 1982 Dr. Zhao graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine degree in Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Then, he gained a Master of Medicine degree from Peking Union Medical College and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at Royal Postgraduate Medical School of London University in clinical pharmacology.
Dr. Zhao has been interested in the research of Chinese herbal medicines in clinical effectiveness and pharmacology and drug-herb interactions. As a chief editor or co-author, Dr. Zhao has published the books of 《Neurobiology of Acupuncture》, 《Neurobiology of Chinese Herbal Medicine》 and 《Formulas of Chinese Medicine》a textbook of the World Textbook Series for Chinese Medicine Core Curriculum, respectively.
For a long time, Dr Zhao has been interested in research in clinical Pharmacology and clinical trials of natural products and medicines developed from Chinese medicinal herbs. He worked as research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Imperial College and King’s College London respectively.
His research works involved in the Phase 1 clinical trial of artemisinin (Qinghaosu) and its derivatives was awarded the Prize for Scientific Progression by the Ministry of Public Health of China. While working on research, he is also attending clinical practice in Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture.

Dr Yonggang Han – PhD, MSc, BSc TCM; MATCM
Gavin Han began his medical career in 1995. He obtained his TCM bachelor’s degree in 2001 and gained his PhD in Clinical Study on TCM from the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2008. Dr Han has over 28 years clinical experience, including his position as the Medical Director for China Healthcare Group in Dublin. During his TCM career, he has published 13 academic papers and nine medical monographs.
