Ba Ji Tian

Ba Ji Tian (Radix Morindae Officinalis) is derived from the root of Morinda Officinalis How. It is most commonly used in its dry form and sometimes after being soaked in a salt solution.

Category: Tonifying – Tang Tonifying.

Common Name: Morinda Root.

Channels Entered: Kidney & Liver.

Properties and Functions: Sweet, Pungent and slightly warming. Ba Ji Tian can be used to tonify Kidney Yang. It also dispels Wind-Dampness along with strengthening the tendons, ligaments and bones.

Indications: Its main applied uses are for Kidney-Yang deficiency manifesting as: Impotence, infertility, incontinence, irregular menstruation or Cold pain in the lower abdomen. Another use is for the treatment of WindColdDamp obstruction. This will typically present as tight muscles of lower back and legs, joint pain and reduced mobility.

Dosage: 6 – 15g

Cautions and Contra-Indications: Antagonises Dan Shen. Contra-indicated for Damp-Heat or Yin deficiency Heat in addition to urinary difficulty.
