Tianwang Buxin Dan

English Name: Emperor of Heaven’s Pill to Tonify the Heart; Emperor’s Tea.

Category: Shen Calming.

Function: Nourish Yin; Calm the Spirit; Benefit the Blood; Tonify Heart and Kidney.

Indications: For mental disturbance due to yin deficiency and interior heat which is marked by irritability, insomnia, palpitation, mental fatigue, poor memory, nocturnal emission and heat in the palms and soles. The tongue is reddish with little coating and the pulse is thready and rapid.

  • Ren Shen [Radix Ginseng] – 15g
  • Tian Men Dong [Radix Asparagi] – 30g
  • Mai Men Dong [Radix Ophiopogonis] – 30g
  • Dan Shen [Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae] – 15g
  • Fu Ling [Poria] – 15g
  • Dang Gui [Radix Angelicae Sinensis] – 30g
  • Xuan Shen [Radix Scrophulariae] – 15g
  • Yuan Zhi [Radix Polygalae] – 15g
  • Wu Wei Zi [Fructus Schisandrae] – 30g
  • Bai Zi Ren [Semen Platycladi] – 30g
  • Suan Zao Ren [Semen Ziziphi Spinosae] – 30g
  • Jie Geng [Radix Platycodi] – 15g

Cautions and Contra-Indications: As many ingredients have the potential to generate dampness, Tianwang Buxin Dan should not be used long-term by patients with cold due to Spleen and Stomach Qi deficiency, or with phlegm-damp accumulation.
