Er Chen Tang 
English Name: Two Old Drugs Decoction.
Category: Dampness Drying and Phlegm Eliminating.
Functions: Drying Dampness; resolving Phlegm; regulating the flow of Qi; harmonising the middle-Jiao.
Indications: Er Chen Tang is indicated for cough or vomiting due to Phlegm-Dampness, characterised by a cough with much whitish sputum which is easily expectorated, fullness and choking sensation in the chest, nausea and vomiting, lassitude, or dizziness and palpitation.
Tongue and Pulse: The tongue is greasy with a whitish fur and the pulse is slippery.
Ingredients:
- Ban Xia [Rhizoma Pinelliae] – 15g
- Chen Pi [Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae] – 15g
- Fu Ling [Poria] – 9g
- Zhi Gan Cao [Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparatae] – 5g
Cautions and Contra-Indications: As this formula is warm and drying in nature, it is contra-indicated for cases of Phlegm-Heat or Dryness syndrome of the Lung due to Yin deficiency.
