Di Gu Pi (Cortex Lycii Radicis) is from the root bark of Lycium chinensis and L. barbarum, family Solanaceae. The medicinal material is collected in early spring or after autumn and then sun-dried.

Properties and Functions: Di Gu Pi is sweet and bland in flavour, and cold in nature. It acts to cool the Blood and reduce steaming bone disorder and also clears Lung-Heat.
Indications:
- Steaming Bone disorder with fever due to Yin deficiency; tidal fever with night sweating due to Yin deficiency.
- Cough and shortness of breath due to Lung-Heat.
- Bleeding due to Blood-Heat manifesting as haematemesis, epistaxis and hematuria.
Dosage: 6 – 15g
Cautions and Contra-Indications: Loose stool due to Spleen deficiency.
